VASUNDHARA JOLLY
Vasundhara Jolly (self)

Born in New Delhi, India, I have been living, studying, and working in Boston & New York (USA), Arusha (Tanzania), Bangkok (Thailand), finding myself now shuttling between New York city and Washington DC.

This website is a carefully curated collection of everything that interests and inspires me - history, food folklore, pre-21st century globalization or the "original cosmopolitanism", Indian Ocean trade and history, via the convoluted and seemingly unconnected routes of mindful and deep travel, photography, fermentation, food, and poetry (the sabzi mandi, if you will).

I currently work on climate finance with the World Bank, and have previously worked with the United Nations Development Programme and the Food & Agriculture Organization of the UN on enabling developing countries to better address the impacts of climate change issues, particularly in the agriculture sector. Prior to that, I worked with Human Rights Watch, and was a Clinton Fellow with the American India Foundation in India. I have a B.A. in International Relations and Entrepreneurship from Tufts University, and an M.A. in Development Economics from The Fletcher School.

In my spare time, I spend an inordinate amount of time maintaining a sourdough starter, trying to ferment things, collecting cookbooks, buying coffee and drinking it, cooking with all sorts of spices, traveling off the beaten path, and taking photos. I am allergic to pigeon dust.
